This includes personal identifiers such as your full name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and date of birth. We also collect demographic information, home address details for service delivery, payment information including credit card numbers and billing addresses, and any information you voluntarily provide through our contact forms, surveys, or customer service interactions. When you browse our website, we automatically collect certain technical data, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits.
3. How We Collect Your Information. 9. Data Retention. We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Project records and warranties are retained for a minimum of ten years from the date of service completion. Financial and billing records are retained for seven years in accordance with IRS requirements. Newsletter subscription data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Website usage data is typically retained for twenty-four months. When your data is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymize it in accordance with our data retention schedule.
10. Your Rights Under State Privacy Laws. Depending on your state of residence, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information. Residents of California have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to correct inaccurate personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. 11. Children's Privacy. Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of eighteen. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under thirteen, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our servers. 12. International Data Transfers. Fix Up Your Place is a domestic company operating primarily within the United States. However, some of our service providers and cloud hosting partners may process data outside the United States. In such cases, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the U.S. Department of Commerce, compliance with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (where applicable), and contractual requirements that third parties maintain adequate security standards. By using our services, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries as described in this policy.
13. Do Not Track Signals. Some web browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that a user does not want to be tracked. There is currently no industry consensus on how websites should respond to DNT signals. At this time, Fix Up Your Place does not respond to DNT browser signals. However, we honor the opt-out preferences you set through our cookie consent tool and your email subscription preferences, which provide you with meaningful control over tracking and communications.
14. California Shine the Light Law. Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83 (the "Shine the Light" law), California residents who have provided personal information to a business with whom they have an established business relationship may request information about whether the business has disclosed their personal information to any third parties for the third parties' direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year. 15. Biometric Information. Certain Fix Up Your Place security services may involve the collection of biometric identifiers such as facial recognition data, fingerprint data, or voice prints when you opt into smart home security features. If we collect biometric information, we comply with applicable state biometric information privacy laws, including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). We will obtain your explicit written consent before collecting any biometric data, inform you of the specific purpose and duration for which the data will be collected, stored, and used, and never sell, trade, or otherwise profit from your biometric information.
